Does the problem happen in Notes Instant Messaging or in the Sametime Connect client?
Check the hostname in the Sametime connect client and make sure it is a fully-qualified internet hostname (server.acme.com).
If Notes Client, make sure your Sametime server name is listed in as the canonical notes name: example CN=Server/O=Acme
Next check your home Sametime server field. For Domino Directories, look in the person document / Basics Tab / Sametime Server field - should be entered as a canonical or hierarchical notes name: CN=Server/O=Acme or Server/Acme
If you are using LDAP, you have to look at the LDAPServer document, name of the attribute that contains the home Sametime server field (the last field on this document), and then look at the attribute. Again, the attribute must be populated with the canonical or hierarchical notes name of the Sametime server.
